Airbus Little Engineer initiative inspires Bahrain’s young aerospace enthusiasts
On December 7th, H.E. Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Bahrain, met with students attending Airbus Little Engineer workshops. The workshops, hosted by Airbus and Air Arabia, were held at the Arab Aviation & Media Summit 2015, which is currently underway in Bahrain.
The Airbus Little Engineer initiative, aims at inspiring the young talents to focus on science and technology studies by engaging students through mechanics and robotics workshops. With this initiative Airbus has developed a series of robotics and aerospace focused workshops covering all age groups from 10 to 17 years old. Since its inception in 2012, over 2500 students across the Middle East and Africa participated at Airbus Little Engineer workshops.
As part of its ongoing dedication to inspire and support future talents of aviation professionals in the region, Airbus introduced the robotics initiative to over 80 students from Bahrain public schools.
The students participated in the “A380 Assembly” program which provided them an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in assembling the world’s largest aircraft. The students also gained key insights in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through focused sessions on programming and robotics as part of the initiative.
